Think and wonder, wonder and think.

I'm going nuts and kind of sleep deprived (though I did sleep around 5-6 hours before my bedtime) thinking about how my org is lately.

I'm pretty serious in presenting (as in with slides) some ideas, things, whatevers next GA. I'd like to thank Dr. Seuss and his precious insights, many of which I've included in my slides.

Since I'll be talking to kids, maybe they'll understand me from that viewpoint. Haha. Burn.

Tense

As in. I am so tense because of STS. I didn't know Dr. Nemenzo counts a late as an absence right away. So, I am completely maxed out of allowed absences! But it does help that Dr. Nemenzo kindly and promptly answered my emails regarding what I thought was bad math. I am less tense at least.

Gah.

Tricia, from now on, arrive at VLC always before 11:30am.

Earrings matter.

My coils failed me today. No new data :(
Good thing Ina has a game on Sat at 2pm, meaning we'd have to go home to the province later as planned so I can still work. Wooh. Thesis it.

Weird enough, a "the dog ate my homework" moment happened last night. Bea and I were in the sort of study nook here in the house and suddenly the internet went off and I saw the router and the broadband go off. Ayun, no current. Low voltage or short circuit, I don't really know. Thank god the other outlets are working just fine and we have extension cord to up the internet again.

I just found out the existence of AdeleVEVO but only a couple of her vids are available for viewing. Bleh.

But never fear, you can catch Adele's newest (or older) tunes particularly Rolling in the Deep in some channels/ users.

You can see I've lots of tabs open, most are about Bragg gratings and all that optics hullaballoo. But at almost 4am I'm barely halfway through my slides still. Tapos ayaw pa ako panoorin ng AdeleVEVO ng Chasing Pavements. Naku.

Psuedo New Year's Resolution

I don't believe in making New Year's resolutions. It's kinda pointless, not to mention stupid, to wait for the start of the year to decide to do something for the better. Counterintuitive don't you think?

Anyway, that used up absences issue that I still haven't cleared yet has really highlighted for me the fact that ever since I learned to slack and come to class late I haven't made the effort to do anything about it. And so I will, to the best of my abilities, come to class on time, every time. It's a bit weird that I'm resolving this now that I'm about to graduate (naku dapat lang) but I need and must do it, for STS and for good measure.

Sabi ko nga kay Ancis, freshie ako ulit sa STS. On time at takot umabsent. Hehehe

Yeah, Bones is my current TV addiction (aside from The Good Wife and Dexter which I started watching again) and it's probably a factor why I'm slacking in thesis writing. But really, I am just so unsure how to write it.

My work is an offshoot, and quite frankly I don't know how to write something that is almost just the same thing. Yes, I was made to do more theoretical work on the topic and we were exploring new ideas that are sadly not yet in fruition but I feel conflicted. Very much so. I've hardly done anything new and I can't write, knowing that what I'll say has been already said. And I can't write based on what I think I can do just because, and it'll be so weird.

I can't write not knowing what point I want to make. Crap.

Crestfallen

I just don't understand why.

Kamon!

I handle responsibilities pretty well. It's a bold statement to say, but I'm quite sure being responsible is among my better traits.

Our lab is having our annual welcome party tomorrow afternoon, a holiday. What's worse is that a senior member of our subgroup proclaims tomorrow morning as an impromptu cleaning session. Oh my gaaaaaaaaaad.

Oh, come on, on a holiday?

Good thing that my parents will be coming and I have a pretty valid excuse to skip at least one laboratory activity tomorrow. I never thought laboratory activities would jam and control my schedule so much. So much for considering grad school.

Low Batt

This week has been nothing but all about SPP. It is my last year as an undergrad (believe!) and I do want to say there has been fruit in my endeavors in research. That is, I want to at least have a paper this coming SPP.

But, dear lord, I am so tired right now.

I got home around 10:20, and yes I spent the whole day in the lab. Got frustrated over bad samples, a bit crazy over cleaning glassware, and a little impatient in handling data. I hope that when I process these, they'll be worth it.

What's worse is that I also have to present a seminar tomorrow. As in, the one with Dean Saloma. I chose a topic a few weeks ago, so I agreed when Jeff asked me to switch schedules a few days ago (I'm originally scheduled next week) because he has a wedding to attend. But things didn't go as smoothly as planned, and what I thought would be an easy task to squeeze in is now a big burden. I can't think well enough to make my slides. Ano ba yan.

Hay. At least I have that Mang Inasal date with Andy and Nicole on Monday to look forward to. Yay?

Sleepy thoughts, not.

I don't know. I'll blame it on the Korean coffee I had a while back. Haha. This is a most unfortunate time to not be able so sleep because I'll be at our org recognition later, then I'll present my seminar in my subgroup's parallel, plus I have an exam tomorrow. I feel tired, but I guess my mind is still active. I tried to review for 161 but I can't focus enough. Hahaha

Allow me to prattle around. I just linked my GMail account to my YouTube account recently, I was reminded of the things I saw when I made the account: Princess Hours and Grey's Anatomy.

Here's my favorite Goong episode. Yuhuh, episode 16 FTW.

As for Grey's Anatomy, I loved the second season. Everything went kinda downhill from there and I didn't watch it religiously after that. But even after a few years, Chasing Cars still reminds me of Grey's Anatomy.

I guess that's another purpose (perk?) of having a blog, so that after ten years I'll be able to look back on how I thought and what I did.

Who made you king of anything?

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Thanks Sara Bareilles. :)

Why yes, but why?

Optics was my first choice when I was still an applicant in IPL. It was a popular choice. I enjoyed our Optics under Sir Garry back in high school, it seemed cool and interesting plus I had no idea what Complex Systems were, and of course my close friends in IPL were under the Optics faction. I was completely shocked to find out that I was accepted to the Complex Systems group, but like everything else I got settled in and I realized the ubiquitous applications of this field.

Frankly, I think I'm a bad research student. I feel like I don't perform very well, and that I can do so much more but I am at a loss why I am such. My adviser is patient and encouraging, that I feel guilty even more. Ha. What's more is that he invited me to the Saturday Optics group. Not that I have a choice, but really, seriously?

I've shied away from Optics after 165, and I didn't really pay attention much after that. I didn't think I'll be needing it, but now it seems that I do.
